April 2017, our amazing friend D. died of cancer. He was one of the most heartfelt supporters of DIY culture in Utrecht, and every single band within this scene, be it punk, reggae, metal or pop, owed some debt to him, or at least knew that D. would always have their back. He is sorely missed.
lyrics
Husk
If this has shown anything
The husk can shine and crumble
At the same time
An inner fire can fuse cracks
Into a brighter whole
Which peers back but never in again
But this is not enough
Build effigies – churches – tombs
And praise the dead
It’s not enough
Burn candles – drink to health
Build cabs and heads
It will never be enough
Ashes retain elements
Which cannot fade – cannot flee
The core of that which once contained
Everything that mattered to be
These fragments inhaled
They nestle inside
And cling to lungs unable to breathe
Unable to be
They open – they suffocate
Some of the dark which ate
Some of the dark which wanted
To leave
Swirling guitars, furious drums, vocals that at the same time howl from infinite distance and are right up in your head; everything put into dissonant form with the help of unconventional songwriting. This album is my personal key to the icelanding black metal madness that I've ignored for way too long! Lukas Kaufmann
thanks Fluisteraars! I just love your music. A very good atmosphérique black metal band with experimental/ ambient passage. This album is literally one of my classics in my black metal journey.
The first time I heard this record, I feel scared and no other album make me feel that. Just, I feel like it's probably my favourite black metal album of all time. Continue in that way ! quentin_milcent
Mean, stylistic millennial post black/hc with a lot of anguish and compressed emotions inside. Virtuoso playing and desolate cold dry sonic aesthetics that'll slice your brains and leaves you stunned on the floor with bloodied ears. And such a banger artwork! 𝙅𝙤𝙚 𝙎𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙡𝙡
The metal’s band revelatory new record crosses genres and styles, effortlessly combining seemingly incompatible subgenres. Bandcamp Album of the Day Apr 26, 2024
Guitars sound like flaming lava, riffs melting into one another while moving slowly across everything and destroying everything - the plaintive and bruised cries for help over it all add a weight that sinks you beneath the earth. The sound is as clear as the soul is dark. Jono Schneider
